Guinea Airport Situation
U.S.
Embassy Conakry released the following Warden Message on February
14, 2007:
This warden message is being issued to update American citizens
regarding information on Air France flights out of Guinea. A flight
left Guinea for Paris yesterday. We believe Air France will try to
operate flights to Paris starting Thursday, February 15 to Sunday
February 19. If you would like to
contact Air
France, we can provide these
additional numbers to reach the airline: 60-29-77-72, 60-29-64-12
and 60-89-61-79. You can also call 30-41-36-57/60/61.
We strongly advise that you do not go to the airport without having
some confirmation of a ticket. Given the current curfew, you should
not try to travel to the airport later than 6pm. The current curfew
under the declared "state of emergency" allows travel only between
noon and 6pm.

The recent
sustained unrest in Conakry and throughout Guinea has created extremely
hazardous conditions. The situation could continue to deteriorate. The
government has decreed a "state of emergency." The Department of State has
ordered the departure of all eligible family members of our employees, and
we urge that American citizens also consider leaving Guinea.
The Embassy remains open, with reduced staffing.
For the latest security information, Americans traveling abroad should
regularly monitor the Department's Internet web site at
http://travel.state.gov
where the current Worldwide Caution Public Announcement, Travel Warnings,
and other Public Announcements can be found. Up to date information on
security can also be obtained by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll free in the
United States and Canada, or, for callers outside the United States and
Canada, a regular toll line at 1-202-501-4444. These numbers are available
from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday (except U.S.
federal holidays).

Americans in Guinea are encouraged
to register with the U.S. Embassy through the State Department's travel
registration website,
https://travelregistration.state.gov, and to
obtain updated information on travel and security within Guinea. Americans
without Internet access may register directly with the U.S. Embassy in
Conakry. By registering, American citizens make it easier for the Embassy to
