How to Obtain Kidnap & Ransom Insurance Coverage

Please READ the following Instruction carefully.

Lloyd's Kidnap and Ransom Insurance is very different from many other types of standard insurance coverage in the market, such as auto, life, health, and travel insurance. Most people have never thought about Kidnap and Ransom Insurance until they heard or read about someone having been kidnapped. Therefore, most people understand very little about Kidnap and Ransom Insurance and often do not know how to obtain a quote and coverage. Very few insurers offer international Kidnap & Ransom Insurance coverage to individuals. The Underwriters at Lloyd's of London are willing to offer this special high-risk coverage to individual, family, as well as corporations.

Since International Kidnap and Ransom Insurance is a special type of contingency coverage designed for individuals or multinational employees who might face high risks of abduction and extortion, we respectfully request the proposed insured (a person who seeks coverage for himself or herself) to follow procedures below:

1) Confidentiality is the essential element of Kidnap & Ransom coverage. Please do not "broadcast" or discuss your intent of seeking for K&R coverage with any third party, because it will draw unwanted attention to yourself and your trip and put you at greater risk of being abducted.

2) For individual coverage, the proposed insured must personally contact our office to discuss the procedures. We cannot discuss the coverage or required procedures with a third party who contacted us on the behalf of the proposed insured.

For corporate coverage, one of the top executives of the company, President or CEO, must personally contact our office to discuss the procedures.

3) Whether you seek for an Individual coverage or a Corporate policy, we strongly recommend that you select a particular insurance agency or broker - whether it be us or someone else - with whom you are comfortable that you can have a working relationship, and rely on that broker or agency to help you to get quotes and obtain Kidnap & Ransom coverage. Once you have selected a broker or agency, please stay with them through the process and do not go comparison shopping as doing so will reduce, not improve, your chance the Underwriters will consider your application.

We at Sunburst International Risk Management believe that an established trust between our agency and the proposed insured is essential to obtain a quote from the Underwriters of Lloyd's of London as well as to expedite required procedures to obtain coverage.

4) All insurance brokers or insurance agencies receive the same terms and premium for Lloyd's Kidnap Ransom Insurance from the Underwriters of Lloyd's of London for a specific application. Therefore, please do not submit your application to our office if you already have submitted request for quote for Lloyd's Kidnap & Ransom Insurance through other insurance brokers or insurance agencies. Otherwise, Lloyd's of London will cancel their previous proposals due to unwanted attentions drawn to yourself and your trip. We also cannot help you if you already have been denied the K&R coverage from other underwriters, insurance agencies or brokers.

Once you received proposal for Kidnap & Ransom Insurance from the Underwriters of Lloyd's through a broker or agency, it is almost impossible to get a lower premium through another broker or agency.

When you shop around for lower premium on Kidnap & Ransom coverage, you put yourself in high risk of being denied of coverage because your shopping around might have put you in a high risk profile. Please see tip # 1.

5) Again we can only discuss the K&R coverage with the proposed insured personally, not a third party such as a family attorney, financial planner, CPA, coach, or insurance agent.
