The first comprehensive Personal Accident and Assistance plan for international travelers, MAP features high limit Accidental Death and Dismemberment and high limit Permanent and Total Disability insurance - including coverage for losses resulting from most acts of War and Terrorism. Am I Eligible for The MAP Plan?
If you are traveling outside of your Home Country and are at least 18 years old but not yet 65, you are eligible for coverage. The minimum coverage period is 1 month and the maximum coverage period is either 1, 3 or 12 months, depending on your destination.

When Does Coverage Become Effective and When Does It Ends?
Your Travel Assistance Services become available on the later of the date we receive your Application and correct premium, or 10 days prior to your scheduled departure. The rest of your coverage becomes effective on the later of: Midnight of the date we receive your Application and correct premium, the moment you depart from your Home Country, or Midnight of the date you request on your Application. Your coverage will end on the earliest of: 12:01am of the last day of the period for which you have paid a premium, 12:01am of the date requested on your Application, or the moment you return to your Home Country. Coverage is not renewable however successive periods of insurance may be purchased, subject to availability on the date of purchase.

Does the MAP Plan provide any Home Country Coverage?
Only losses resulting from Accidents which occur outside your Home Country are covered.

How is "Home Country" Defined?
If you are a US citizen, your Home Country is the United States, regardless of the location of your Principal Residence. If you are not an US citizen, your Home Country is where your Principal Residence is located. Your Principal Residence is your true, fixed and permanent home where you receive regular mail.

Are Acts of War and Terrorism Covered?
Under most circumstances, yes. Acts of War and Terrorism involving the use or release (including the threat thereof) of any nuclear weapon or device or chemical or biological agent are not covered.

What are the Benefits and Sums Insured?

Benefit Sum Insured
Accidental Death $50,000 or $100,000 as selected on your Application.
Loss of Sight of both eyes 100% of the Sum Insured
Loss of Sight of one eye 50% of the Sum Insured
Loss of two or more Limbs 100% of the Sum Insured
Loss of one Limb 50% of the Sum Insured
Permanent Total Disability (other than loss of sight of one eye or loss of one Limb) 100% of the Sum Insured

What are the Limitations?

  1. The total amount payable shall not exceed the amount corresponding to the largest single Sum Insured stated in the Certificate issued to the Member.
  2. Accidental Death benefit is payable to the Beneficiary selected by the Member and indicated on the Member’s Application. Death must occur within 365 days of the Accident, and must be directly attributable to and resulting from Bodily Injury sustained in the Accident.
  3. Accidental Dismemberment benefit is payable to the Member. The Member must survive the Accident for 30 days. Loss of Sight is defined as total and irrevocable loss of sight. Loss of Limb is defined as complete and permanent severance of a hand at or above the wrist, or a foot at or above the ankle.
  4. Permanent Total Disability benefit is payable to the Member. Permanent Total Disability is a disablement which entirely prevents the Member from attending to any business or occupation for which they are reasonably suited by training, education or experience and which lasts for 365 days beginning on the date of the Accident. At the end of that 365 days, the Member must be beyond hope of improvement as certified by a Physician selected by the Underwriter.

What are the Exclusions?
Losses directly or indirectly caused by, contributed to by or resulting from the following are not covered under this insurance:

  1. Accidents which occur prior to your Effective Date or subsequent to your Termination Date or in any country not disclosed on your Application.
  2. Sickness or disease (except bacterial infection arising from Bodily Injury) or mental infirmity or emotional or psychological trauma.
  3. Accidents which occur while the Member is incarcerated for any reason, and while committing or attempting to commit a criminal act.
  4. Riding or driving in any kind of race and travel or flight in any aircraft or aerial device except for air travel as a passenger riding in or boarding or disembarking from any aircraft with a current and valid standard airworthiness certificate, operated by a pilot with a current and valid pilot’s certificate with a proper rating to pilot such aircraft.
  5. Taking part in Armed Forces service or operations and taking part in any form of mine or ordinance clearance or disposal.
  6. Suicide, self-destruction, attempted suicide or self-destruction and intentionally self-inflicted Bodily Injury while sane or insane.
  7. Any drug taken, administered or injected (except on the advice of or as directed by a licensed Physician), any alcoholic beverage consumed by the Member to the level of intoxication, and any poison, chemical compound, gas or fumes voluntarily taken, administered, absorbed or inhaled.
  8. Voluntary exposure to unnecessary danger (except in attempt to save human life).
  9. Injury sustained while taking part in the following activities:
    1. Amateur or professional sports or athletics, except this does not include Amateur sports or athletics which are non-contact and undertaken solely for leisure, recreational, entertainment or fitness purposes unless such sports or athletics are otherwise excluded by this provision.
    2. mountaineering where ropes or guides are normally used or at elevations of 4,500 meters or higher.
    3. Hang gliding, sky diving, parachuting or bungee jumping;
    4. Snow skiing or snowboarding, except for recreational downhill and/or cross-country snow skiing or snowboarding (no cover provided whilst skiing away from prepared and marked in-bound territories and/or against the advice of the local ski school or local authoritative body);
    5. spelunking;
    6. subaqua pursuits involving underwater breathing apparatus unless NAUI/PADI certified, accompanied by a certified instructor, and at depths of less than 10 meters;
    7. Any other sport or athletic activity which is undertaken for thrill seeking and exposes the Member to abnormal or extraordinary risk of Bodily Injury or Death.

he following Travel Assistance Services are available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week while your MAP plan is in effect.

Pre-Trip Health and Safety Advisories (available after your purchase of the MAP Plan, and before your departure) – call us for current passport, visa, inoculation and vaccine requirements, as well as up-to-date travel safety advisories.
Livetravel® Services – we will make emergency travel and itinerary changes for you including rebooking flights, hotel reservations and ground transportation arrangements.
BagTrak® – we are the industry leaders in tracking lost baggage. We will help you locate your lost baggage, and deliver it to you anywhere in the world.
Emergency Message Relay – we will relay messages to your family, friends and co-workers, helping you to maintain contact during an emergency.
Emergency Cash Transfers – we will assist you in arranging and obtaining cash transfers anywhere in the world.
